THE TOOLMAN

    WELCOME TO MY WEB PAGE

Welcome to my personal web page. Here you will learn a little about me and my hobbies, friends and family.
You will also find ton's of links to other web sites that contain stuff related to trucks and automobiles.

First came the Ranger
1987 Ford Ranger First came the Ranger. Originally I wanted to build this truck. I wanted to do a solid axle
conversion. Also I planned on a 5L engine but it was not to be. Instead I kept the 2.9L engine and lightly built it. I
installed a mild cam and lots of performance bolt on's. I installed a 3" body lift and 31" A/T's. This truck soon
became my favorite. Not because it is fast because it really isn't that fast but something about it appeals to me.
It has it's own personality. I just fell in love with this little truck. It quickly became my daily driver and occasional
mud racer for fun and many off road trips. For anyone who doubts the off road abilities of rangers, they are
mistaken. This little truck has gotten me threw mud holes where full size modified trucks got stuck.

1978 CJ-7 This was my last project. I bought the jeep from a scrap yard for $300. It was actually on a flat bed
ready to be boxed When I saw it. I did a lot of work to it. It had no engine or tranny. The transfer case was on the
passenger seat. I replaced the original front dana 30 with a dana 35. Also the stock rear differential was a
model 20 so I replaced it with a dana 44 off a 67 bronco. I took an AMC 360 engine from a 72 matador and the
727 torque flight transmission was donated from an 86 dodge ram. I installed a locker in the front dana 35 along
with 4.89:1 gears. In the rear I installed a True Trac posi, and also 4.89:1 gears. The rad had to come from a
Cadilac. I outfitted the dana 300 transfer case with a twin stick shifter. This allows me to shift to front wheel drive,
rear wheel drive, 4 wheel drive in high or low range. The 360 was treated to a set of headers and a holly 650
cfm double pumper carb. I am happy with this carb. The Jeep received a total of 7 inches of lift from a
combination of axle under lift and a little fabrication on my part. I bought 4 36" super swampers. I used to race
the jeep at mud races and enter it in tough truck competitions. I also enjoyed beating the crap out of it in the
woods. I spent a total of about $10,000. on this jeep and it took me about 2 years to build. I did all the work on
this machine myself and endured many long nights in the cold in the process. I painted it black originally. I don't
own the Jeep anymore. I sold it to a woman who races it at the same mud races I did. She is winning often. Now
I am starting a new project. I purchased a 78 bronco with a 351 M engine and a c-6 trany. It has a NP205 t-case
and a front 44 and a 9" rearend. I have plans to install a 4" lift to it and install 34" Mickey Tompsons. I plan to
change the axle ratio from it's stock 3.50:1 to 4.10's. keep an eye on my web page for updates.

As for me personally I am a Mechanic by trade. Obviously you know what my hobbies are. I am happily married
to my wife Jennifer. We have two boy's, Brandon 6 and Johny 5. They are both in school. Also we just found out
that we have another on the way!!. Due near the end of November!!! Jennifer and I have been together since
high school and intend on staying together till we wither away or the kids drive us insane, Witch ever comes
first.

My best friend is Sean. We met many years ago when we were both living on the streets. We helped each other
out and gave each other support. We consider ourselves brothers from different mothers. Sean is probably the
most free spirited guy I have ever met. This is a quality that makes him unique. I hold him responsible for getting
me into computers. Sean is a great friend to me and I know he is always there if I need him. Gotta love him.
